WHAT IS THIS PRIVACY POLICY FOR?

GiftLog (“we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. We describe data that identifies you individually, or could reasonably be you used to identify you individually, as “Personal Data”. It’s important to us that you feel comfortable and trust us with your Personal Data when you use any of the GiftLog services (the “Services”). It’s also important that you understand that by using the Services, you give us consent to collect, use, disclose, and retain your Personal Data. Similarly, if you provide us with Personal Data, you are giving your consent to accepting this Privacy Policy. Please therefore take a few minutes to read this Privacy Policy, so that you understand what type of Personal Data we collect, what we do with it and why.

By using the Services, you are also agreeing to our Terms of Use. Please make sure you read and agree with our Terms of Use if you want to use GiftLog.

All Personal Data will be held and used in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (the “DPA”). WHAT INFORMATION WILL GIFTLOG COLLECT ABOUT YOU?

In general, we only collect Personal Data to enable us to personalize, improve and continue to operate the Services. We collect the minimum Personal Data required to achieve the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, as follows:

·       Account Information: When you create a GiftLog user account and use the Services, you voluntarily give us Personal Data. This may include your name, address, email address, phone number, date of birth, age, username, password and other registration information, personal description and photo. When you install the GiftLog mobile application, you will also be asked to allow us to access information stored on your mobile device. This includes your address book (e.g. the names, phone numbers, addresses and email addresses of your contacts).

·       Information from Other Sources: If you access the Services through third-party social media sites like Facebook, you agree to give us on-going access to your Personal Data on such sites (for example, your public profile, friend list, accounts you follow or who follow you, your email address, birthday, work history, education history, interests, current city). We may receive certain information about you which is stored on social media sites if users of those sites give us access to their profiles and you are one of their friends or connections, depending upon your settings on those sites. As permitted by law, we may use your contact information to send you information about our Services, when we feel such information is important. You may unsubscribe from these messages through your GiftLog account settings, although we reserve the right to contact you even if you unsubscribe when we believe it is necessary in connection with the Services, such as for account recovery purposes.

·       Activity Information: While using the Services, we will collect activity information, such as the number and frequency of visitors to our website or mobile application. We may use this data in aggregate form as a statistical measure. This type of aggregate data enables us and third-parties authorised by us to figure out how often users use parts of the Services so that we can analyse and improve them. We will receive other information (e.g. the content you have viewed and interacted with) from your use of our Services.

·       Location Data: We may collect geo-location data (which determines your current location) to provide location-related Service functionality. We may also link location data to other information we have collected about you for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. You may stop sharing your location data by changing the location services settings on your mobile device.

·       Information Collected by Cookies and Other Technologies: Like most websites and mobile applications, we may use cookies and other technologies, such as web beacons, web storage, and unique advertising identifiers, to collect information about your activity, browser, and mobile device, as well as to distinguish you from other GiftLog users. This helps us provide you with a good experience when you use the Services or browse any of the sites and also allows us to improve our website and mobile application. We may also use these technologies to collect information when you interact with services we offer through one of our partners, such as advertising and commerce features. Most web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually remove or reject browser cookies through the settings on your browser or mobile device. Keep in mind, though, that removing or rejecting cookies could affect the availability and functionality of the Services. ·       Communications with Us: When you contact us (such as to report a problem with our website, mobile application or the Services), we will collect the information that you choose to share with us and also keep a record of that correspondence.

HOW WILL GIFTLOG USE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

We will use your Personal Data in the following ways to ensure you get the best experience from the Services:

  • to develop, operate, improve, deliver, maintain, and protect the Services;
  • to send you ‘push’ notifications containing information about the Services and to provide you with information if you are using the mobile application (provided you have given us permission to do so by enabling this on your mobile device);
  • to allow you to participate in interactive features of our website, mobile application and the Services;
  • to monitor and analyse trends and usage;
  • to use information we have collected from cookies and other technology to enhance the Services and your experience with them;
  • to notify you about changes to any of the Services;
  • to send you communications, including by email (for example, we may use email to respond to support inquiries);
  • to enable you to share our content with others using social media or email; and
  • to enforce our Terms of Service and other usage policies.

WILL GIFLTOG SHARE YOUR PERSONAL DATA WITH ANYONE ELSE?

  • to any member of our group, which means our subsidiaries, our ultimate holding company and its subsidiaries, as defined in section 1159 of the Companies Act 2006;
  • in the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we will disclose your Personal Data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets;
  • if GiftLog or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case your Personal Data held by GiftLog will be one of the transferred assets;

  • in order to: (i) enforce or apply our Terms of Use or to investigate potential breaches; or (ii) protect the rights, property or safety of GiftLog, our users, or others (including exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction). 

THIRD-PARTIES

Our website or mobile application may, from time to time, contain links to and from third-party websites, services and applications (including, but not limited to, websites on which the mobile application or the Services are advertised) (“Third-Party Services”). This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of any such Third-Party Services. We do not accept any responsibility or liability for the content, privacy policies or practices of those Third-Party Services (including any Personal Data that may be collected through the Third-Party Services). Please check the privacy policies of any Third-Party Services you access.

HOW AND WHERE WILL GIFTLOG STORE YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

The Personal Data we collect from you will be transferred to, and stored on, our servers which might be inside or outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). Access to your Personal Data will be limited to those who have a need to manage it, which may include our employees, or those of our group companies, service providers or agencies. However, your data will be protected in the same ways as outlined in this Privacy Policy. We will take all necessary and reasonable steps to ensure that any Personal Data that we send to outside the EEA is protected by appropriate technical, physical, electronic, and organisational procedures in place to keep that Personal Data and prevent the unauthorised or unlawful processing of your Personal Data, and accidental loss or destruction of, or damage to, your Personal Data. By submitting your Personal Data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing.

WHAT SECURITY MEASURES ARE IN PLACE TO PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

Unfortunately, the transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our website or mobile application; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your Personal Data, we will use strict security procedures and features to prevent unauthorised access. We will continue to maintain and improve these security measures in line with legal and technological developments.

WHAT IF YOU CHANGE YOUR MIND?

If you change your mind about our ongoing ability to collect Personal Data from certain sources that you have already consented to, such as your phonebook or location services, you can simply revoke your consent by changing the settings on your mobile device. Of course, if you do that, certain Services may lose full functionality. You have the right to ask us not to process your personal data for marketing purposes. HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHAT INFORMATION GIFTLOG HOLDS ABOUT ME?

The DPA gives you the right to access Personal Data held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with that DPA. We are entitled to charge a fee for any access request to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you. You can request access to the Personal Data that we hold about you by emailing us at contact@giftlog.co.uk.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THERE ARE CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY?

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect new company initiatives, services, changes in the law or technology. The updated version of this Privacy Policy will be posted on our website and mobile application and date stamped at the top of the Privacy Policy so you are aware of when it was last updated. On certain occasions, we may provide you with additional notice (such as adding a statement to the homepage of our website or providing you with an in-app notification).

I WANT MY DATA DELETED..

Your data is held securely and not shared with anyone. If you would like your account deleted please email us on contact@giftlog.co.uk and we can delete your account and associated data. Please note that this deletion is irreversible and we will not be able to retrieve your data if you change your mind
